How to Dress Your Guy

I find it kind of ironic that I, of all people, am going to sit here and tell you how to dress the guy in your life considering I'm perennially single BUT hear me out. I DO have my older brother who I used as my male guinea pig -- grooming, style, you name it I make him try it. The key point where we don't meet is his denim style. I'm more of a slim fit, bootcut lovin' kinda gal when it comes to males in jeans. He's not. The baggy, sagging look is so late 90s. So as an honorary style maven and ever loving baby sister (so modest I am), I've listed three shopping tips you can take to ease any guy into dressing how you want.

Fit
Different body types require different fits. Duh, right? The basics are as follows: ensure that they don't sag in the seat or crotch. A good pair of jeans should form to his contours. So whether he's going for the slim, straight or relaxed look everything from the inseam length to the waist needs to measure up. Most jeans shrink in the wash so getting them a little longer isn't a bad idea (and if it ends up being too long, remember a tailor can be a best friend).

Color/Rinse
Blue jeans are classic. They're clean, versatile, and can make a guy look hella good. The great thing about blue is that there are a multitude of rinses available from the darkest blues (be careful since the dyes often transfer) to a light blue. You want to think about your guy's lifestyle. If he can wear jeans to work, ease him into a dark blue denim (like Rock & Republic's Nightmare Slim-Straight Jeans) since it looks amazing when paired with a crisp button down. Plus this works for day and night meaning it's no problem for him meet up after work for a quick dinner sesh. Light blue is relaxed and easy which makes for a great weekend look. I like the Stone Cold Straight Jeans or the Tron Bootcut Jeans for a super light wash (also by Rock & Republic)

Details
I like to think the days of super fancy pocket details are over. Keep rivets and stitching to a minimum for a truly clean look. Pockets are a BFD to guys and I say no more than five is okay.
