Random Nail Polish Haul

I went into Duane Reade for a bottle of Cherry Pepsi and a bottled Starbucks Mocha Frap and walked out with four nail polishes I probably didn't need.

Don't judge me.

After using the Maybelline Express Finish nail polishes from their Spring collection, I've fallen in love with the finish and lasting power, so I grabbed up two polishes- a beautiful shimmery green and shimmery blue shade. The one thing about these polishes is that the names aren't on the actual bottle which leaves me playing the guessing game. I believe the green is Go Go Green; the blue I have no idea but it does look pretty similar to Bungalow Blue.
I only got this (Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in White) because there was a two dollar coupon attached to the display (HA!) making it slightly cheaper. White is such a boring color and reminds me of the French manicure which I HATE with a passion but we'll see what I can whip up with it.
Lastly, I picked up a silver Art Club nail art polish only because I was feeling frisky.

When it comes to nail polish, I am the most boring person on the planet. Not only do I suck at application (umm polish on my fingers and NOT my nails) but I am not good at doing designs and all that jazz. Hopefully this little haul o' mine will lift me out of that funk :)

Oh by the way...

In case you don't follow me on Twitter, I graduated college :D I graduated Cum Laude, which means that I'm semi smart and graduated in the top 15% of my class. I think. In other news, I'm wearing MAC's Pink Nouveau lipstick layered under MAC Cremesheen in Over Indulgence and some Lancôme gloss. This was a meticulously planned lip combo all because I was worried about what my pictures would come out like.

Priorities people. ;)

Congrats to the class of 2010. We did it!! **cue Elle Woods squeal**

Something LIke a Phenomena

yes that was my incredibly tacky Yeah Yeah Yeah's reference ;)..
Last month, I introduced you to Illamasqua's latest collection Body Electrics, a collection chock full of pigments and products to make any beauty girl swoon. Lately I have been playing with the Liquid Metal ($26) in Phenomena.

The Illamasqua Liquid Metals are rich and deeply pigmented metallic creams. These creams are quite versatile and multi-purpose, so I've been using it on my eyes and even my décolleté.

Having recently graduated from college, I have been going out almost every night in celebration (the under eye bags are there to prove it!) and this little guy has been NECESSARY for me to go out! Phenomena is a glittery silver that stays on the skin for quite some time after application. It has a lightweight but slick consistency, without being runny and goes on very, very smooth.

It reminds me of butter minus the grease-- stay with me here people...

Rather than using a brush, I simply apply with my fingers that way I have better control of the product. It is glittery without looking like you came out of a 80s music video remake. I'm not a fan of chunky glitter so this is absolutely perfect if you're looking for something that makes a statement without being too in your face. So rather than just call this glitter, I prefer to say it's shimmery because it provides a nice look rather than the disco ball effect of glitter.
Look at that pigmentation!!!
One comment when using on the eyes is that this baby creases! To combat this I use eye primer and put this over my eyeshadow (the powder helps it set and last longer). A couple of nights ago I was feeling a little frisky and decided to lightly pat this over my lipsstick (MAC's Petals & Peacocks) and the effect was AMAZING! If you like to go out or do makeup looks that go beyond the nude shadows, I highly recommend you get Phenomena. Illamasqua also released another color called Surge in their spring/summer collection. Surge is a platinum color which looks way more intense than Phenomena (though I haven't seen or played with Surge in person).

Be sure to check out Sephora (if you're in the States this is the only place to get Illamasqua) or log onto their website to get the liquid metals or anything else from the spring/summer line.

Have you tried out Illamasqua cult product? Let me know how!

The Kardashian Takeover Continues: Sisters Launch Kardashians for Beach Bunny Swimwear

I"m pretty much convinced that the Kardashian sisters are set to take over the world. One label or partnership at a time. The one thing that keeps me dazzled with the sisters is that not only do they lend their bodacious bods (umm..those curves!?) and beautiful faces, they are committed and very hands on in their work.

Kim, Kourtney and Khloe has teamed up with L.A. label Beach Bunny Swimwear to design sexy suits that flatter their individual body types and personalities. Each of the girls created two styles for the upcoming Summer collection, now available online. The suits are an array of sexy, modern, and body-conscious cuts that reflect Beach Bunny Swimwear’s brand aesthetic fused with the style of all three Kardashian sisters.
“Beach Bunny suits are always very whimsical, fashion forward, fun and edgy for the beach. It will be interesting to see what we can bring to the line," says Kourtney of the partnership.

The trio was recently at the launch event in L.A at the Beach Bunny Swimwear flagship. Kim’s bikinis feature gold hardware and tie-side bottoms because, she “loves dressing up when going to the beach and tie-sides fit my body type the best.” Khloé, on the other hand, gave her designs an exotic touch, incorporating animal prints for a “sexy and fun” vibe, while new mom Kourtney opted for function and fashion as she designed an “amazing bikini that is super easy to wear, but has extra support on top-since I now have that issue.”

Later on this year, the sisters plan to launch a larger collection featuring five styles per sister available on beachbunnyswimwear.com. “Kardashians for Beach Bunny Swimwear” is priced under $175. Now it ain't official 'till it hits the runway (HA!) but no worries as the line will make its runway debut in Miami this July during the IMG Swim Show.

Do you think you'll shop “Kardashians for Beach Bunny Swimwear”?

On Newsstands Now: Women's Health Beauty Awards Issue

I'm a sucker for a good awards show. It's always fun seeing who wins and who loses. When it's a magazine that announces its annual beauty awards, I get extra excited all to see if my favorite products made the cut.

About a week and a half ago I attended the Women’s Health Beauty Awards preview where I got to see all some of the products chosen by the beauty editors and readers. I got to speak to WH Beauty Editor Alexis Farah who told me that they got so many reader votes that they had to cap it off at 10,000!!!

Power to the people! HA!

Of course there were some oldies but goodies (Cetaphil!) as well as some hitmakers and repeat winning brands (here's looking at you NARS!).

The issue hits newsstands today (May 25th) so be sure to be on the lookout for it!

NYX Celebrates 10 Years

It's no surprise that I love me some NYX Cosmetics. Heck, I've done enough haul posts to prove it! HA! Well who woulda thunk the brand was already a decade (+1) years old! The brand celebrated their Decade +1 Anniversary on May 18th with a star-studded party at the legendary Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. Over 250 guests (umm hello Carmen Electra, Jessica Lowndes, and Katharine McPhee, singer/actress) mingled around the Roosevelt pool while enjoying tunes by DJ Harley Viera-Newton and sipping on grapefruit Nyx-tini’s.

Nyx Cosmetics founder and Creative Director, Toni K., was on deck chatting away with everyone. Some stopped by the Nyx Beauty Bar, where they mixed & matched candy-colored shades of Nyx glosses and shadows for their own customized bag of products.

How jealous are we??!! Well, in any case, happy birthday Nyx!
