Holiday Contest at Boucheron

Here's a FABULOUS contest running at The House of Boucheron through the holidays. If, for some odd reason, you do not know what Boucheron is...here's the rundown:

Boucheron is one of the most renowned French jewelers. Over the decades, four generations of the founding family have guarded the Boucheron legacy. This commitment has been continued under the Gucci Group within P.P.R., who bought the company in 2000, and is celebrating the House’s 150th anniversary this year. Boucheron has always appealed to those who are as famous and fabulous as its jewelry. Boucheron takes much of its jewelry inspiration from the natural world, with the serpent being a particular House favorite. Currently there are over 40 Boucheron boutiques worldwide as well as a website.

The contest: Boucheron Christmas Tree Contest

From November 24th onwards (for one whole month!!) Boucheron is giving the opportunity to win one of the Boucheron jewels for Christmas!

Who never dreamed of receiving a precious jewel on Christmas Eve… with just a few clicks?

All you have to do is go on the Boucheron website (click here) and pick which jewel you would want to win. Place that jewel underneath the Christmas tree, and you're done! Should you be the winner, you get the jewel you picked so be wise. What did I place underneath the Christmas tree?

This is the Quatre Ring (retails for $3,300) and is simply beautiful! The Quatre collection launched in 2005 and is modern but still has that old school charm. The collection consists of rings (like the one above), cuff links and necklaces in combinations of gold in white, yellow, rose and chocolate color. Chocolate gold is an exclusive Boucheron technology.

What are you still doing here???? Go on...enter!

Hello Kitty + MAC= Heaven

So after all of the speculation and rumors, it has FINALLY come out! Hello Kitty and MAC will be collaborating!

per WWD:
"MAC Cosmetics has teamed up with Sanrio Global Consumer Products to create a Hello Kitty color cosmetics collection.

The line will arrive on MAC’s Web site Feb. 10, in North American stores on Feb. 12 and into overseas stores in March.

“MAC has been mining pop culture since the brand was founded,” said John Demsey, group president of the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc. “This is a sexy and innocent fashion line, and a true MAC moment. In these times, everyone can use a little fun — and a little Kitty.”

“The partnership was a no-brainer,” said James Gager, senior vice president and creative director of MAC Worldwide. “We cater to people who love to play with makeup.”

While in many licensing partnerships, the licensor shops his or her property around, MAC went after Sanrio, Hello Kitty’s owner, to do the deal. “They had never done makeup before, and I was certain that all those women who already own a bit of Hello Kitty would also want to own branded makeup,” said Gager.

“We are thrilled to partner with a brand that shares the vision of offering an innovative, authentic and transforming experience to our loyal fan base,” said Janet Hsu, president of Sanrio. Sanrio’s worldwide retail sales of licensed products for 2007 is estimated at $5 billion.

While the 34-year-old Hello Kitty character is usually assumed to be a cat, she is actually a girl, according to Sanrio. And a girl without a mouth, so she “speaks from the heart,” the company said. “She may not have a mouth, but she’s going to sell a lot of lipstick,” cracked Demsey, noting that a waiting list for the items will go live on Jan. 7 at maccosmetics.com.

“To me, MAC Hello Kitty embodies the ultimate beauty icon,” said Jennifer Balbier, senior vice president of product development for MAC Worldwide. “She’s sweet and sexy, slightly edgy, and appeals to a wide range of customers. We wanted to reflect that through a sweet side, but also something slightly mischievous when it came to the colors. I started out by creating a palette of pinks, since they fit and always trend well in the spring. And this look is so much about the eyes that we did two eye shadow quads.” The Lucky Tom quad has violet blue, brown, gold and pink-coral shades, while the Too Dolly palette has mint, blue-silver, pale pink and magenta shades.

“We incorporated glitter eyeliners because she loves anything that twinkles, and we took the coral and hot pink theme and did pretty, poppy [colored] blush,” added Balbier.

While this collection is intended to have a sophisticated presentation, MAC hopes to appeal to younger fans with two shades of lip conditioners.

The Hello Kitty offerings fall into two collections: the Hello Kitty Colour Collection and the more high-end Hello Kitty Kouture. The bulk of the items are in the former category: six shades of lipstick with names like Fashion Mews and Strayin’, each $14; six Lipglass shades, each $14; and two tinted lip conditioners, $14.50 each; two eye shadow palettes, which each contain four shades and retail for $38; two shades of pigment are $19.50 each, and two Reflects Glitter stockkeeping units — one blue, one pink — are $17.50 each. Four Glitter Eye Liners, each $16.50, two shades of Beauty Powder, each $22; three shades of nail polish, each $11; a black mascara, $12, and false lashes, $12, round out the color offerings. Shades range from pinks and turquoises to lavenders and greens.

Hello Kitty Kouture is intended to be the high end of the collection. Two shades of Dazzleglass, each $28, each feature a reusable silver chain pendant with Hello Kitty outlined in white Swarovski crystals on black with a pink crystal bow. Sheer Mystery Powder, $90 and available in three shades, is packaged in a silver powder compact with Hello Kitty outlined in white Swarovski crystals with a pink crystal bow on a black background.

“We wanted to have affordable luxury and a high-low aspect, so it made sense to do the Hello Kitty Colour Collection and Hello Kitty Kouture,” said Demsey.

The Hello Kitty Colour items, a Petite Makeup Bag, $22, and a medium Makeup Bag, $35, will be in all doors, currently about 581 department and specialty stores in North America including Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s, as well as MAC’s 138 freestanding stores in North America and at maccosmetics.com. Internationally, the items will be in 1,307 doors in 69 countries, including 296 MAC freestanding stores outside North America. Hello Kitty Kouture will be available at MAC stores and maccosmetics.com only. At the maximum, the collection will be available for eight weeks.

A plush doll, $42; purse mirror, $22, and three-brush collection, $49.50, will be available at MAC stores, Nordstrom doors and maccosmetics.com only. A mirrored key clip, $16; beaded bracelet, $34, will be sold in MAC retail stores and at maccosmetics.com only, and a tote, $45 and soft vanity kit, $55, will be exclusive to maccosmetics.com. These items are intended to animate the counter presentation and create an entire Hello Kitty world at retail, Gager noted.

While none of the executives would discuss sales projections, industry sources estimated that the limited edition MAC Hello Kitty collection could do upwards of $12 million in North American retail sales. That projection is slightly larger than that of the hit Barbie collection.

In-store visuals, shot by Nick Knight, show the polar opposite aspects of the collection. One is an image of a blonde model holding a black vinyl Hello Kitty doll, which will be part of the accessory line. The other visual is what Gager terms “more of a dominatrix creature.” The point, said Gager, is to show that makeup can be transformative. Makeup was done by Val Garland, with hair by Sam McKnight.

And Demsey promises the surprises aren’t over yet. “There will be more products to come in the next three months with this partnership,” he said."

My new shoes...

The creative juices are flowing over here...can't you tell by my exciting title!!?? ha

My mother hates the way I dress. But most importantly she hates my sneaker and flats addiction.

See when I was younger, I was quite the little tomboy. Baggy pants, oversized shirts (usually my brothers), sneakers...I did it all. I even used to rip my stockings so I wouldn't have to wear them (hey, my brother didn't have to so why did I?)

Somewhere in between playing Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, and high school my disdain for the color pink has turned into an imaginable infatuation, my baggy jeans have turned into skinnies, and my makeup collection has outgrown my knowledge of how to perform fatality in Mortal Kombat (I used to ROCK IT in that game...)

But one thing that remained is my love of graphic tees and sneakers (Nike Dunks anyone??) Fed up with my non impressive shoe game mom gave me the Almighty Visa to do some much needed shoe shopping. Now credit cards and I DO NOT MIX! I am currently suffering and wondering how exactly I can get Citibank outta my hair (and make them stop the calls...8am seriously??) so when she gave me the Visa I was tempted to head on over to MAC and Saks...but I would never do that to mi madre as I know we ain't rolling in dough over here.

And since I didn't want to have her in debt, I was modest. Very modest.

First I went on over to Sears to see what was all the rage (from my mom). I wasn't really impressed but then again it could have been my dislike of Sears altogether (Sears and I don't get along- some of the sales associates are super rude at the location I go to...and they don't carry MAC like Macys do lol). But I made it my business to find something at a moderate prince.

Lo and behold:

These boots are by Classic Elements and cost me a whopping total of $37!! Now I'm not the type of gal who NEEDS to have brand name things...are they nice yes. Necessary, no. So satisfied with my new riding boots, I went on my merry way. But as I spoke to mom, and described the boots in great detail (she insisted), I was told "spoil myself" (according to her I deserves it...really???)

So I pranced on over to my dear friend Macy's (now Macy's and I are bff...so much so that they're ALWAYS sending me those 20% and $10 off coupons. And I scored BIG!

These Franco Sarto Oxford Bootie are SPECTACULAR!!! Originally around $89, the sales associate (Hey Ilana!!) gave me 20% off without even asking me if I already had the coupon then I simply asked if I could use my $10 off coupon and her reply was golden...

"Of course"

The final price of the shoes came out to around $60. Needless to say I was floating on air. I have been rocking my boots almost everyday since the purchase but the booties I only wore once. I already have my outfits all planned out =)

So any recent splurges/purchases out there in blogland???

PS: 29 days 'till my 21st birthday!!!!!! heyyyyyy!!!! I still have no idea what I'm going to do...any suggestions?

Is Anna...Retiring??

**gulp**

The baddest chick in the game might be retiring??? No I don't mean Beyonce you guys. According to the New York Post Anna Wintour's contract at Condé Nast is about to expire and she's even considering retiring.

Anna you can't retire! Who else can take over the helms and grab fashion by the balls and say "I'm in charge!!" without so much as blinking?

She currently oversees Vogue, Teen Vogue, Men's Vogue, and Fashion Rocks...along with a gazillion other events she holds in honor of various people. But I mean times they are a rough. Fashion Rocks just went on a "hiatus for 2009" meaning they aren't gonna produce it as the supplement to the Condé Nast mags around the Fashion Rocks celebration. Men's Vogue is only going to be producing a mere two issues a year and it'll be bagged with Vogue.

So is it time she let it go? Quit while you're ahead?? Well we know that she recently turned 59 (really??) and at age 59 former Vogue editor Grace Mirabella quit. So is she following this trend?

While I have been hearing rumors of Russian Vogue editor, Aliona Doletskaya, may be the one replacing Anna I refused to believe it. But you know when you keep hearing rumor after rumor then it comes true!? I don't want this to happen. Sure Doletskaya has brought Russian Vogue into a new stratosphere but I mean does she have the fierceness that is Wintour's stare?? And I know I'm very biased but I mean who knows New York style like the most powerful woman (ok I exaggerate) in New York. Sure they're stylish but do they evoke that sense of fear into designers...that fear that if their collections suck that they KNOW that they won't be featured for the next half a year?? So each season, designers bang out these awesome collections not only for the aesthetic value but to be placed in the BOSS of all mags.

I didn't think so.

She has nurtured and brought to the limelight so many designers. And don't forget Roger Federer...I didn't even care about homeboy 'till I saw all the pics of them all up in Fashion Week two season ago.

Though this hasn't been confirmed...I'm saying it now. Anna Wintour...you will be missed.

2008 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show: "The Glamour is Back"

Ahhhhh...14 days until one of my favorite nights on television...the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. If you remember last year I posted about it early and gave ya'll he scoop before it aired and this year is no different!!

I have a soft spot in my heart for Victoria's Secret...don't know why. All the pink, glitter, PINK, and beauty just gets to me. I mean it's the girly girl anthem of major pinkage (pinkage= massive amounts of the color pink in a given area, display, store, etc.--haha). I wasn't always obsessed with the color pink...in fact I used to HATE it! Like loathe it...but then like two or three years ago I just gravitated towards it...odd I know.

Anywhoo...back to the show.

The theme this year is "The Glamour is Back". And if you remember my one little rant post about how the people over at VS were trying to change up VS from "sexy" and youth centric to a bit less sexy than the concept of "bringing glamour back" isn't a surprise. Basically VS is losing their "older" audience and want that money- ..erm I mean business.

But the show itself looks like it's one hell of a party that I intend on attending at some point in my life...one day I will actually figure out how haha.

So the segments this year are:

1. Glamour Goddess (song played: Usher: Yeah , Whats Your Name)
2. Dangerous (song played: Jorge Moreno: Babalu)
3. The Moderns (song played: The Killers: Human)
4. Pink Planet (song played: The Ting Tings: That's Not My Name)
5. Ballet De Fleurs (song played: Chris Brown: With You)
6. Black Tie Holiday (song played: Kanye West: Love Lockdown)
7. Finale (song played: Robbie Williams: Let Me Entertain You )

I listed the songs playing in each segment because I hate it when I'm watching a show and I love the song playing but don't know what the name or who the artist is. And when you ask someone they have no idea and you're stuck thinking about that song for at least a week and you just can't get it outta your mind--THAT DRIVES ME CRAZY!!!! So to avoid that from happening...I got you covered.

You're welcome.

The lingerie line's event featured a full orchestra, a glitter-drenched runway (MAJOR!!!!), 35 models and two performances by Usher. It was held in Miami this year on Nov. 15, 2008 and kicked off the grand opening of the Fontainebleau Miami Beach Hotel.

Here are some pictures just as a teaser...

There were also some first VS walkers:
Abbey Lee Kershaw
Sessilee Lopez

Edita Vilkevicuite
Clara Alonso
Arlenis Sosa this has been a major year for this girl. From getting discovered to landing in the "All Black" Vogue Italia to this...

And there is bad news...
Izabel Goulart is no longer a Victoria's Secret Angel. Rumor has it that SHE broke her contract to work for Emporio Armani and Armani Exchange (she's the current face of AX). She's been an Angel for quite a while now and I'm kind of sad to see her go bye bye...but that does leave the door open for a new chica to take the wings. I wonder who that can be. Little old Doutzen imagebamhas been mentioned quite a few times and I even see more focus on her (camera wise...either that or she is stalking the photographers). But there's also word of Maryna Linchuk. So we'll kinda have to wait and see!!

Also Jessica Stam and Natasha Poly have been noticeably absent this year...=(

The real star of the show however is the bra that nobody can afford. The $5 million, 1,500-carat bra Black Diamond Fantasy bra was worn this year by the ever sexy Adriana Lima. Created by jeweler Martin Katz, it contains 3,575 black diamonds, 117 certified one carat round diamonds, 34 rubies and two black diamond drops that top out at 100 carats (source). $5 mill...in times like these??? No sweat says Heidi Klum, "You always have to look forward even when times are bad," she said. "You have to look to the future." (USAToday.com) Plus that's no biggie compared to the $10 million worn by Tyra in 2004 and the $12.5 million creation worn by Gisele in 2005.

I'm excited!!! I can't wait for it to air. Don't forget to watch it!! It airs December 3, 2008 on CBS.

Ahh...the Inaugural Ball Gown: The Race Begins!!

So my fave lady, and CFDA President, Diane von Furstenberg has submitted her sketches of Michelle Obama's inaugural ball gown. She announced that last night to NY Mag's The Cut.

"Well, they asked me to. Of course, everybody has," she said. "I'm so proud to be an American. Otherwise, right now we would all be so depressed." (nymag.com)

One person I'm curious about is Thakoon Panichgul. We already know that Michelle O. is a fan and boy do we remember that dress. However, he's remaining mum on the word, telling The Cut, "Um … we'll see what happens," You sly dog you.

Ahhh! How I wish I could be in Washington for the inauguration itself. But it's clear that all eyes will be on Mrs. O since she is a very stylish woman. I'm curious as to which designer she picks for her gown. Carolina Hererra is a bit too much, in my opinion, for Mrs. O simply because she has this natural elegance and clothes that are a bit too much kind of seem overpowering. Though I do love Carolina Herrera (the woman) as I feel she embodies everything of old school glamour, I'd say she's more of a Cindy McCain designer, very polished at all times. Other designers I can see for Michelle:
Chanel: just because Karl Lagerfeld is a master with how he can recreate a Chanel classic in a modern contemporary way. And is Michelle not a modern contemporary woman?? And I love Karl so this decision is extremely unfairly biased =)
Cynthia Rowley: Her clean cut lines and tailored dresses are fit for a woman of Michelle's height.
Donna Karan: all American designer for the all American woman.
Giles Deacon: whimsical yet not in a "Ohmigod-what-is-she-wearing" kind of way. The bright colors, beautiful design, the craftsmanship, and the often pop culture references is something that can be brought into the "new White House" as I like to call it.
Move a step forward, Michelle!! No pantsuits please! Though I do love my pantsuits myself, I just want the return of when women dressed up and looked more feminine. Evoke that sense of glamour girl! The fashion world will be watching...stay tuned!
Who do you think Michelle should rock as her inauguration ball gown?
From now until December 16th, Stila is offering a 20% discount!!!!

To get your discount, just use code ECYX12 during check out. They also have a new rewards program so check that out and start earning credit!!!

"Live Your Life, Beautifully."...with Bella Home Decor

Ahhh...another home decor review. I find myself thinking more and more about the day I move on out of dear old mom's house. I imagine myself living in an über-cool abode with chic wall paintings and beautiful portraits.

Enter Bella Living Home Decor. I found out about this website through my usual rounds of internet hopping and email I just felt the need to share. So to those of you who are renovating, moving and looking, or you're just like me and daydreaming...read on my friend!

With my ever growing makeup collection and oodles of hairsprays, shampoos, conditioners, cleansers, masks- you get the point- I'm going to need (and want) the most beautiful of bathroom vanities out there. Belle Living actually has quite the impressive round up- Mahogany, Porcelain, walnut- all these different looks and finishes. And with an impressive price point as well (don't act like the credit crunch isn't affecting you too!). I am loving this Coral Vanity set (sink and mirror). It has an ambrosian mahogany stain on solid ash coloring. It is super pretty and elegant. It's also nice and small so my sink wouldn't be taking up too much space lol.

They also have a vast collection of decorative wood. "Decorative wood" What the hell are you talking about??? At least that's the thought that ran through my mind when I read that. But browsing through the site, I found out that it's those odd little pieces that make that front of the house look all cool and festive and old school. I'm talking about fireplace columns, corbels (for example of corbels...see pic below..though its not from the site)

TA-DA!! Corbels! haha

These I'd imagine would be great for houses not apartments like I'm looking for.

There are also cabinet hardware for fixing around, tons of other fixer-uppers for around the house/apartment, and...towel warmers (!!) how cool are those- can you imagine having one of those puppies in your house?

I die.

Bella Living lives by a Simple Motto..."Live Your Life, Beautifully." How ironic is that?? 'cuz so do I!

Key Silver Jewellery: All You Ever Need

So you guys are well aware of my jewellery craze...I love all sorts of bangles, rings, and other costume pieces that'll spice up your outfit. And if you are like me, you do too. So why not head on over to Key Silver, where they have Sterling Silver Jewellery for what seems like wonderfully amazing prices.

Seriously...this website is amazing if you're into sterling silver jewellery.

(Left: Rose Pendant Right: Sterling Silver Chain)

The rose pendant is beautiful and looks so vintage and to work it you can wear it with the plain chain. Don't you love mixing and matching.

(Left Heart Bracelet Right: Elephant Bangle)
The Sterling Silver Bracelets are super cute. The heart bracelet to the left reminds me of a bracelet I bought when I was younger (though it was from Rite Aid, I won't lie) and so are their Silver Bangles (peep the elephant bangle...its different and really pretty).

Key Silver has been around since 2006 and is a UK company. Although it is out of UK they do ship all over the world meaning us on this side of the pond can rejoice! And the prices are not bad at all. One of the bracelets is £15 which is roughly $22 if I am correct. I mean come on...affordable! The best part is...they don't charge for shipping so you're saving some cash. Also, unless someone else on this side of the Atlantic is buying from the website, nobody else will have the same pieces as you because the jewellery is sourced direct from makers in Thailand, and not sold in retail stores.

Two points for exclusivity.

The website itself is easy to navigate and there aren't any annoying ads that can often confuse you (am I the only one that click ads thinking they're actual products only to land on a totally different website??).

Anywhoo: This site/company gets a thumbs up from me. I may not wear a lot of sterling silver but now I know where to get some.

As always I will always share with you all when I find something pretty, exclusive, or just straight up pretty exclusive!

Welcome to another Pucker Up Wednesday where I dish on my great and not so great lip products...anything from lip liners, lipstick, and the ever wondrous lipgloss.

Wow I haven't done one of these in a WHILE!

Today I'm reviewing Cover Girl's IncrediFULL Lipcolor.

According to CoverGirl:

"Get fuller, younger-looking lips - instantly. This volumizing lipcolor helps draw moisture to the lips, visibly minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. And its formula provides a refreshing, cooling sensation...so you can feel it!

Hydrates Lips for up to 8 hours
Helps visibly minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
Contains an exclusive age defying Olay complex
Vitamins B3, Pro Vitamin B5, and Vitamin E "

According to me:

Meh...the colors are great I'll say that much. I bought shades 928 (Fresh Jam) and 952 (Bold Bordeaux). Bold Bordeaux is a semi red more on the plum side color. I find it to be a great alternative if you want to wear a red but nothing as dramatic as Gwen Stefani or Chrisitna Aguilera (well when she was rocking red and not this hot pink.) Fresh Jam is a reddish pink similar to my MAC Rich n Ripe. I love it.

The lipcolors last long though I can't vouch for 8 hours. It does come off SUPER easily and is not the lippie you'd want to wear if you want to avoid applying and reapplying. This color goes EVERYWHERE.

Price wise it's under the $10 mark making it affordable and I got them at a buy one get one half off so that's always a plus.

Overall rating: C+

Nice color, great consistency, but rubs off way too easily.
