MAC Dame Edna

So I've posted before, letting you guys know about the Dame Edna collection for MAC. As I said before, this collection wasn't something I was feening for. It was missing something. The only reason I even looked at it- let it alone post about it- was because of the sparkly purple case that the products came in.

Well I had gotten a Macy's gift card for my birthday and really Macy's was seriously boring me. With nothing grabbing my attention I headed over to the cosmetics section (I always find something there ha).

But the Macy's location I was at was seriously slacking (I'm talking to YOU Fulton St. Macy's in Brooklyn).

I somehow managed to be at the MAC counter and gave the Dame Edna collection the once over. Oddly enough, the eyeshadow trios caught my attention and I was hooked on the lovely purpleness in the Royal Tour Trio.So naturally I bought it. =)

I tried to get the best possible swatch (above) but my camera is not working with me. This palette is a really pretty set of purples that would be great for a smokey eye. I think its good (and sexy) to have a smokey eye look with something other than a black. My favorite eyeshadow outta the three though would have to be the darkest shade which turns out to be Climate Blue from the Cool Heat collection. It's a midtone violet-blue color with pink pearlized pigments. I just love the flecks of purple sparkles in the eyeshadow.

Overall, there was nothing special about this trio. The shadows are typical MAC shadows. Nothing overly special and if I didn't have that gift card I probably wouldn't have bought it.

The City...Whitney Port...and my city

Ok as a native New York and budding fashionista, I make it my BUSINESS to watch any show claiming dibs on my city a.k.a New York City and it's style. In my mind, there is only one show...ONE...that can claim the rights to NYC and that is Sex and the City...for obvious reasons.

And now that I've had a full 24 hours to digest former Hills alum, Whitney Port's new show, aptly called The City, I have to say my piece.

Now before we begin I just have to say this, and please people do not get mad/offended or whatever...there was FINALLY black people on one of these shows! Even though they weren't a part of the cast, had no lines, and probably landed on air because they were in the way...there was still some (two) black people. Don't recall what I am talking about? Well in the second episode when our resident mega hot Aussie, Jay, was about to knock sweetface/jealous ex, Alex, in the face there was Black Person #1 who kinda stopped the fight and than like 5 seconds later Black Person #2 got in the camera's way.

SCORE!

I'm just sayin'...now that we're in NYC maybe we could get a little diverse MTV??

Now back to the actual show. I loved it! ***Please note that this is a completely biased remark because, simply put, its NYC. My NYC. And they included New York Fashion Week which is like one week of heaven for me so...***

It's interesting to see how Whitney's style has changed once she moved to NY. In The Hills, she's normally sporting tees and the like but there were heels, heels, heels in NYC baby! And I'm lovin' her look. There's a lot of leg going on though...it's like this girl doesn't own anything that covers her gams. But whatever 'cuz if I had the confidence I'd be rockin' the same outfits..ha.
New York Whitney

Also, with a job at Diane von Furstenberg, you gotta represent I mean seriously.

Anywhoo, the show was good. One thing that ran through my mind was "Who in NY lives like this??" Seriously. Okay, I know my life is less then spectacular and glamorous and I don't spend my nights hanging out in Tenjune. But judging by my Twitter peeps, I'm not alone in thinking this. This show clearly altered my view of how the other half lives. As I read other blogs and the comments that follow I'm finding that a lot of people don't like the show. People! It's exactly like The Hills except:

a.) It's in NYC, which is officially known as The City (but I could have told you that ten years ago. I don't know any New Yorker who calls Manhattan, "Manhattan" or "NYC", and the only reason why I write NYC on this blog is so non-NY-ers know what city I'm referring to)
b.) The fashion is clearly different. It seems that people in NY dress up more than LA.
c.) Instead of Justin Bobby here is Jay the Aussie.

PS: Check the outfit:
I died when I saw this promo pic of Whitney's long lost BFF Erin. Purple. Gold. Short. Me.

Another thing became apparent as I watched The City. I'm probably the only New York fashionista (yes I said it. I am proclaiming myself from here on out as...yet another fashionista) that doesn't own a blazer.

Yes I said it. I am proclaiming myself from here on out as...yet another fashionista. Like we need more but...

Now I know this staple has been around for several fashionable seasons (which is now considered decades as anything "in style" for more than a season is old apparently) but I never cared much for it as I could never think of the "right" way to wear it. But watching little Miss LA do her thing in a nice form fitting black blazer...I'm curious. More on that later though. In the meantime, let us have a moment of silence for the shoes....

Naomi Campbell for Chinese Vogue

Ms. Naomi Campbell a.k.a my model icon landed the January 2009 cover of Chinese Vogue. Check it...

I kind of like this cover and part of me hates it. I love Naomi (duh) but I hate that her cheeks look like she got some sort of cheek implants. I love the jacket being worn (outfit is Louis Vuitton) but hate the mini skirt. If you're going o put her in a mini you might as well show off the super long legs.

Jourdan Dunn for French Elle December Cover 2008

OMG!

How did I manage to miss this cover????!!!? I have been all over the December covers but managed to let this one slip away!

Quelle horreur!

I MUST get a copy of this issue...immediately! Jourdan Dunn is amazing and has taken the modeling industry by storm. She even won the British Model of the Year award. I swear between her Italian Vogue cover and this one, it can't get any better.

Operation Thakoon Takeover

Today (well technically yesterday as it is now 12am Tuesday morning..ha) I was a woman on a mission. The Thakoon for Target collection was released on Sunday (12-28-08) but I slipped off and forgot (damn alarm on my phone didn't go off). So today I made it my BUSINESS to get my tiny little hands on at least three pieces...yes three.

I was actually quite excited to go to Tar-jayy even taking an hour and a half train ride from my dentists office in Queens to Brooklyn just for it. My hear raced a little as I entered Target and my feet led me directly to the GO International section. But as I moved my fingers through the racks I noticed that my dream dress...the one I mentioned here... was only left in an XL.

Panic ensued...I seriously think my heart skipped a beat.

But as I stared at the dress I realized that the I wasn't a big fan of the print. I mean it's an okay print but it wasn't for me. But Thakoon did not disappoint as the other pieces were simply superb...if only they had my size though!

Jeez I swear the XS are the first to go.

But then...I saw IT. IT was staring at me with its fullness and beautiful flower print. The oranges, pinks, and blues were calling me. But I wasn't the only who saw IT neither. Another woman, short with glasses, spotted IT. She was quick to but not quick enough.

Shoot...where I'm from you gotta be quick!

I grabbed that size 1 skirt with the quickness--so quick that I grabbed a size 3 and 7 with it =)

I kind of squealed a little as I held the skirt in my hands. Victory was mine. As I stared at the print I stood enamored. It was a beautifully crafted skirt with just the right amount of pleats and a full bottom. And with a price tag of $26.99 you couldn't go wrong.

There was a navy skirt that looked just like it, so I grabbed that along with the navy blue cardigan sweater and headed towards the fitting room. I tried on the navy version of the skirt but it was completely unflattering. The waist was (surprisingly) too big even though it was a size 1 and it reminded me of my next door neighbor's elementary school uniform. No Good. This kind of shot down my hopes of the flowered version of fitting me but I tried it on anyway. I'm glad I did because this one fit me even better AND had no resemblance to a school uniform.

SCORE!

I tried on the cardigan (in a Small) but it was too boxy on the sides (but I ordered the XS online...gotta love birthday money!) above: the cardigan

This skirt reminds me of another sweet purchase I made a few short weeks ago at good ole' H&M. I had this thing for pleats and bubble skirts, so when I saw this skirt hanging on the racks..I had to get it.

This picture really doesn't do it any justice and I curse the camera I took it with. It's a white skirt with baby blue and navy flower print on it. The print looks almost like a watercolor painting right on the skirt. It hits me right above the knee (about an inch or two) so its the the right amount of sexy yet conservative. Honestly on someone shorter than me though, I can tell that this skirt (Along with the Thakoon one) would be knee length or longer.

After my victorious purchase I just had to celebrate. I treated myself to a Starbucks Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino. A well deserved treat for a battle fought hard!

After Christmas Beauty Sales

So you've gotten gift cards and can't think of where to start your post holiday shopping...this is where I come in.

Enjoy the following sales.

Heaven...I mean Sephora...is have a HUGE sale. =)

Sephora’s running a huge blowout sale with select holiday items marked down up to 75% off (and free shipping)! There are tons (!) of beautiful items up for grabs here ladies!

Victoria's Secret beauty is also has major markdowns..between 40%-60% off of selected beauty products.

The makeup case shown in the picture, for example, went from $150 to $79...

Yeah. I thought you'd like that.

For those who aren't just looking for a beauty fix, Nordstrom is having a special online-only sale where you can save 40% off on selected merchandise.

Rumor has it that they're stocking up on their exclusive “value sized” beauty products of cult favorites!

I'll be on the lookout for any more sales, discounts, and deals for ya!

Lingerie..or Costume...Your Pick

Every now and again I run across a site that's a little bit out there. But then curiosity sneaks in and I'm stuck on the site. And knowing me, I'll eventually find something I like and depending on what my good ole Hello Kitty debit card says...I click ADD TO CART.

Do not laugh...Hello Kitty is the shizz

This time the website that got me was Flirty Lingerie. It is a lingerie site for women.

Now if you're the type of chica who diggs La Perla..this ain't it.

The site is quite easy to navigate and really whatever you're looking for you can find it easily from the sidebar.

When it comes to the actual lingerie itself, some of them look like costumes to me. But then on the sidebar...I saw the word "Sexy Costume" lol. This site is for the woman who enjoy sexy lingerie (yes that includes you plus size lingerie wearin' ladies). Women who wear lingerie (think corsets and such) would love this site. This is a good site to visit pre- Valentines day (if that's your thing..I personally think Valentines day is a crock...lol). They have a wide selection of lingerie..and -er- "dancewear" (which is NOT ballerina tutus and leotards like I thought).
(your "typical" Halloween costume nowadays...)

Though not necessarily something I'd wear everyday, I guess this is somewhere women can visit when looking to "spice things up"...or if you just want hella sexy underthings. This is also good for women who want to buy lingerie or costumes like this but feel just a tad bit embarrassed going into those stores because they ship it to you.

But I'm not one to judge. I keep an open mind. I just felt the need to share this with somebody =)

PS: What made me stick around on this site? The corsets. I'm a sucker for them things. Though there was no ADD TO CART this time ha

Joyous Kwanzaa!

I hope everyone had a fantabulous Christmas!

Joyous (happy) Kwanzaa to all!

Its actually kind of funny how relevant this principle is nowadays. Not just uniting the African American community but the global community as a whole.

(PS: do not fear I will be doing my fashion and beauty posts as well...I just need a computer. HA! I'm doing this from my dear old Blackberry)

For the home...

From time to time, ya'll know that I like to talk about the future apartment of mine. Interior decorating is something that I am slowly but surely falling into. I'm no great interior designer but I do have images of what my future home will look like (I even know how I want to decorate my apartment for when I move out of my mothers house AND for when/if I get married haha).

When it comes to designing your home or apartment, you want the inside to reflect who you are- you're sense of style, what your tastes and interests are.

The last thing you want is the person taking over your home and making it into something they would want to see in their design book. That chandelier may be extravagant but if you're a low-key kinda gal than it doesn't really make sense, does it?

But most of all I know we all (or at least I) crave comfort. What I hate most right now about my mom's house is the fact that the living room is untouchable. She hates it when people are sitting on the couch...last I checked that's what they were for. LOL

But whatevs...

Kaja Gam Interior Design in New York City covers Westchester (holla!! Westchester that's where my school is located lol) and the Tri-State area and will help with creating the home you've always envisioned, but never knew how to get it going.

I know that there are a lot of Interior Design New York companies but I suggest taking a look over at Kaja Gam. Their website sonds very promising I'll tell you that much. I was taking a peek at their portfolio and this one room had me swooning and wishing I was an 11 year old girl! lol

They do everything from full house renovations, kitchen remodeling, and Bathroom Remodeling New York.

Also on their site:
Project Management Services from Kaja Gam Design include everything needed to effectively research, start, maintain and finish your project. You'll have a trained professional on your side to handle:

* researching costs
* organizing workflow
* coordinating contractors
* communicating with vendors
* following up with suppliers
* enforcing work schedules
* ensuring quality workmanship

With the use of Project Management Services, you can expect:

* costs to be fully understood upfront
* a work schedule to be developed and distributed to all involved
* contractors to show up on time
* vendors to deliver materials as promised
* work to proceed without excuses or unnecessary delays
* quality of work to be as expected or better
* ensuring quality workmanship
* and your project to flow smoothly without the typical frustration and headaches

How awesome is that??!!!??!

Tip of the Day

When trying on bras (when lingerie shopping) stand up straight! You'd be amazed at how well a bra fits when you have great posture.

Apples of Gold= Pure Gem

Once in a while I'll come across a website or blog that I feel that I must share. And combine that with the fact that my birthday is in 4 days and my mom always gives me jewelry, I feel compelled to share this blog with you all.

This is a jewelry blog that is super well organized, detailed, and super informative. Plus it doesn't hurt to look at pretty jewelry.

My fave part of the blog is the history on the December Birthstone (which turns out to be the Blue Topaz...I used to think it was some orange stone).
GoGo
How gorge are these???? yuh huh--I'd love to get these for my birthday...

There are tips on how to carefully select classic jewelry pieces, jewelry trends good for the new year, and jewelry coupons (you didn't think I'd post something without searching for coupons did you?? lol).

Again, ya'll know I love posting about jewelry on this blog but it's funny because I hardly buy it and my everyday jewelry stays the same, necklace and earrings. I have a tendency of taking off rings when I'm washing my hands or applying lotion (and then forgetting where I took it off).

But if you are looking for jewelry or just want something to read..I j=highly suggest taking a peek at Apples of Gold's blog. What girl doesn't love all things sparkly and pretty?

=)

Just a heads up...

I have mentioned before that I am trying to change up my dear old blog (big thanks to all those who took my annoying survey!!)

One thing I am looking at is a good web hosting service (you know...like GoDaddy, Yahoo!, etc.). I want one that is easy to maintain (I'm not as tech savvy as I like to think I am), has some sort of customer service/support system so that should I have any questions someone is there to help me, and...cheap...plain and simple. I'm not looking to pay $1500 a year (hell that's a college course or two).

I'm telling ya'll this because there may be some of you who are looking to do the same with your blog and might be just as confused as I am. If you are check out this site on web hosting.

They provide independent reviews of the best web hosting providers- all of which are under $10 a month (now that's what I call a deal). All web hosting plans include at least one free domain name registration and 30 day money back guarantee. Just like we go to beauty blogs and fashion blogs for ideas and tips on what to buy, pass, or crave, I feel that you should check this site out (even if it is to just take a peek). This site isn't all fluff...as I was reading the customer reviews on the "Best Blog Hosting" many people viewed that Bluehost is not the best (as in the comment the guy left in CAPS which in the past means anger in email language lol). So you are getting advice from people who have used the sites and learned from their experiences.

If you already have a web hosting service review your web host — let other webmasters know whose the best and the worst!

Hopefully if you are in the market for a web host service this site will help you out!

Also be on the lookout for the launch of the new and improved MissWhoever You Are website in January 2009! If you have switched from Blogger/Wordpress to a new domain email me and let me know what you did...any tips/advice can help me greatly!

Allure January 2009: Eva Mendes

So the January covers of the magazines lately have been SUPER SUPER thin...but more on that later

Here's cover girl Eva Mendes (beautiful) in the mag:
Eva on the Calvin Klein ads that were banned because they featured a nude Mendes rolling around in the sheets of a bed: “Can you trust me on this one for a second? My nipple — it is soooo not a big deal. You just see the nipple for a split second while I’m rolling around on a bed. That’s it!”

Eva on whether her stunning looks are helping or hurting her Hollywood career: “I’m not one of those actresses who says that because of my good looks I don’t get offered the right things. No! I’m not being offered the things I want because I haven’t shown my ability as an actress.”
Eva on her ditzy reputation: “I’m a smart cookie. You can’t do what I do and not be smart. But am I an intellectual? No. And I think that’s what I mean when I say I look for brains in men.”

I mean I love Eva Mendes and all but honestly...I buy Allure for their take on lipstick and beauty, not to see Mendes' boobies. As stunning as she is, I feel that she pigeonholes herself by always having GQ types shoots like this.

What do you think???

Pampered for the holidays...or whenever...

Can you BELIEVE that Christmas (or Kwanzaa...whatever's your thing) is next week! All the food, gifts, laughter, family...are you excited??!!?

Well one thing's for sure is that often with the holidays comes...stress. So this holiday season, fear not for I have got you covered.

The perfect way to pamper yourself, after you've finished pampering others, is getting yourself a facial. Yes times are hard and you'd rather do it yourself but why...that's the whole point of being PAMPERED ladies! (or gents)

Now if you do suffer from the occasional acne you might want to try deep pore purification. This is where you reduce the amount of breakouts and rid your skin of acne by reducing the size of your pores. You can either do this with a laser procedure (just type in "deep pore purification" in any search engine and see what your options are) or I know there are some beauty companies that sell products for this purpose.

Or if you're looking for ways to permanently remove hair (no more shaving!) then we all have heard about laser hair removal which is a great option (though it is costly and you must go through several processes). I wwas really shocked to read in Allure a couple of months ago that there are laser hair removal systems that won't affect women of color so...YAY! before some lasers weren't effective against pigmented skin but apparently that's a thing of the past (but as with any procedure please do your research prior to paying cash for it!)

And if you're seeing signs of aging that you just can't come to terms with, you may want to consider facial rejuvenation. As we age, the visible signs of sun damage, lifestyle choices (smoking, drinking, etc.) and the natural aging process will appear in our complexion. This aged look may include: freckles, rosacea or persistent redness, wrinkles, broken capillaries, dark spots, blotchy skin colour, enlarged pore size or uneven pigmentation.

Photo Facial Rejuvenation is one of the only (if not the only) non-invasive procedure that can treat the above-mentioned imperfections while encouraging the production of collagen, all in the same treatment. The best candidates have for photo facial rejuvenation may have:

• red, flushed faces.
• sun-damaged skin.
• hyperpigmentation.
• enlarged pores.

If you are not into the whole laser thing...a facial is just as swell! LOL =)

Again these are just some things you may want to look into if you are looking to take care of you or just start the new year off with a bang!

I am not a doctor nor a professional and any information here is solely based on my research and various websites I visit. For a more professional (and accurate) advice, please visit a doctor.

Confessions of a Shopaholic: Book vs. Movie

Ok so if you've been following this blog for a while now, you'll remember that I often do book reviews. And don't worry if you haven't been following for that long, you haven't missed much as I've done a grand total of 2 book reviews in the 1½ years that I've had this blog (I swear I do read lol). Well one of my favoritest (is that even a word...) books out there is Confessions of a Shopaholic (read the review here and the entire Shopaholic series as a matter of fact. Rebecca Bloomwood (the character in the book) is EXACTLY like me (if I were British and slightly older).

So when I heard that the book was turning into a movie a couple months ago I was SUPER excited.

Out of curiosity, I decided to Google (ahh the magic known as Google...) to see what the details were and if any trailers were out about it.

And they are. And I'm not happy.

There's something odd that happens when a book is turned into a movie/ tv series. The book loses is magic...that luster that had keeps the readers wanting more and more in the series. It happened with Gossip Girl (and boy was I boiling). In the REAL Gossip Girl (a.k.a the book):
1. Vanessa is bald and is all bad ass punk but deeply lovable
2. Dan is a loser-ish type of guy- not this mega hot hottie who gets Serena from the beginning
3. Jenny H. is a BIG chested little girl who craves to be in the Blair/Serena clique. But later just Serena 'cuz Blair is just plain evil.
...there's so much more wrong with the show than with the books that I can't even explain. It also kinda happened to Twilight as my girl Jaimie touched upon...but I'm not that much of a Twilight head so I don't know.

And now I'm afraid the same thing has happened with Shopaholic...

WHYYYYY!!!! (enter dramatic music...dun dun dunnnnn)

Why must you do this Hollywood!??!!!
They've got it wrong in the plot line:
"Rebecca Bloomwood is a sweet and charming New York City girl who has a tiny, little problem that is rapidly turning into a big problem: she’s hopelessly addicted to shopping and drowning in a sea of debt. While Rebecca has dreams of working for a top fashion magazine, she can’t quite get her foot in the door—that is, until she snags a job as an advice columnist for a new financial magazine published by the same company. Overnight, her column becomes hugely popular, turning her into an overnight celebrity. But when her compulsive shopping and growing debt issues threaten to destroy her love life and derail her career, she struggles to keep it all from spiraling out of control…and is ultimately forced to reevaluate what’s really important in life. "
---CinemaBlend.com

According to the trailer, Rebecca Bloomwood (Beckie or Bex as her bff calls her) lives in NYC (not London as the book has it). This I feel is ESSENTIAL to the book. Despite the fact that NYC is a fashion capital, I don't think having it as the setting is a good thing. It's too...obvious. Oohh let's move her to New York because y'know...New York is all fashiony (that was me trying to mock the producer/director of the movie..haha). Clearly if she lives in the fashion mecca (ok maybe not mecca..) it'll be grand and all but I really wanted to hear the movie in that darn British accent! lol Not to mention as the book series continues there's a book called Shopaholic Takes Manhattan where she...visits New York and goes bonkers...DUH!!! SHE'S NOT ORIGINALLY FROM NEW YORK!!!!!

Also, they say she starts to work in a savings magazine, when in the book she really ends up working as an television savings broadcaster- one of those people who goes on those morning TV shows giving money advice. It's not no darn magazine!

AND...they have Suze (whose Becky's bff in the book) with BLACK hair...she's a BLOND in the book!

ANNDDDDD
...(last one I swear)...they have Becky all dressed up and whatnot...this ain't Sex and the City people! Becky had a very understated chic wardrobe in the beginning and eventually went on as this expensive dresser as the series continued. I'm clearly not the only one upset, in the forum (yes I'm an uber nerd who reads forums on these things) other people have expressed their anger at the movie.

But seriously...why do they have to change everything? These may be small changes but these are two things that I've noticed just based on the trailer alone. What'll I see when the movie comes out!??!

For those who haven't read the books, here are the FACTS:
1. Becky lives over in the UK not NYC
2. She used to work at a finance mag (something small) but lands THE job she's wanted (and is called for) as a personal shopper (later on in the series).
3. She does fall for a mega rich and wealthy and handsome PR guy (yay PR!!! that's what i'm studying in school lol) named Luke Brandon.

please read the book before going to see this movie lol

But I will give credit where credit is due. Casting Isla Fisher as Beckie is smart as I do love Isla Fisher (umm...hello..who else can play the stage 5 clinger better?? lol) and they do have the whole concept of her shopaholic behavior thing.

The movie is supposed to come out February 13, 2009. I'm kinda apprehensive. That is all for my rant today =)

What do you think? Is it ok for the movie to completely change around the story from a book (any book)? Do you care? Am I just a big baby?

[EDIT as of January 18, 2009] Ok, so I've been informed that the movie is based on BOTH the original Confessions of a Shopaholic as well as the book Shopaholic Takes Manhattan. That makes more sense as to why it's based in New York and not London. And I'm slightly appeased. Slightly.

Oh MAC how you tempt me so: Dame Edna for MAC

MAC is seriously trying to make me go broke this year...

The latest upcoming collaboration comes with Dame Edna, the lavender-haired alter ego of Australian comedian Barry Humphries, launches December 26th (a mere two days after my 21st birthday in case you were wondering).

“I’m doing this out of love — I’m a giver,” said Dame Edna, “The audience’s applause was a little louder when I was wearing MAC on stage, so I was a convert. They didn’t have to coerce me.”

The line will consist of

Lipstick

  • Gladiola Matte mid-tone blue pink (Matte)
  • Coral Polyp Creamy mid-tone coral (Amplified Creme)
  • Kanga-Rouge Creamy dark blue red (Amplified Creme)

Lipglass

  • Hot Frost Sheer mid-tone blue pink with multi-dimensional pearlized pigments (Frost)
  • Splendid Frosty pale pinky coral (Frost)
  • Possum Nose Pink sheer bright coral with multi-dimensional pearlized pigments (Frost)

Royal Tour Eye Shadow Trio

  • Royal Tour Mid-tone cool lilac (satin)
  • Dame’s Desire Frosty mid-tone reddish purple (Frost)
  • Climate Blue Dark blue fviolet with pink pearlized pigments (Velvet)

Wisteria Eye Shadow Trio

  • Fineshine Frosty true-silver (Lustre)
  • Wisteria Frosty robin’s egg blue (Velvet)
  • Divine Night Frosty charcoal with silver pearlized pigments (Velvet)

Hight-Light Powder

  • What a Dame! Pale orangey peach
  • Spectacle! Pale soft pink

Nail Lacquer

  • Asiatique Creamy classic red (Creme)
  • Varicose Violet Frosty mid-tone pinkish purple (Frost)
The target customer?? “The young, because the young adore me,” said Dame Edna. “The middle-aged are jealous of me.”

I'm lovin' this collection for the simple fact that its purple. Purple everywhere! In terms of purchasing...I'm looking at my standard one lipstick (Gladiola) and an eyeshadow trio (Royal Tour). Other than those two this collection isn't something I'm swooning over.

The HP Vivienne Tam Special Edition Notebook

As a college student, you would think that my most prized possession would be my laptop.

And it would. If I had one.

I don't know how I have managed to survive 3½ yrs of undergrad without a laptop. Had this been a couple of years ago, it wouldn't matter. But in the age of technology and digital access, a laptop for a student is as important as a calculator is for an accountant.

Or at least the built in calculator on the computer.

So when I saw the The HP Vivienne Tam Special Edition notebook, my heart nearly stopped. I instantly setup my package online at HP and clicked "FORWARD" straight to Daddy.

The HP Vivienne Tam Special Edition notebook is the first time a computer company has partnered with a world renowned fashion designer to create a laptop that offers all the style and power needed for a delightful technology experience. Tam also worked with HP to design the notebook’s accessories and packaging.

“When I was approached by HP to create a special edition notebook, I could see the design in my head instantly,” said Tam. “The notebook is a true reflection of the needs of a modern woman who cares about fashion but is also passionate about her technology. I wanted to create a notebook that would appeal to women of all ages, ethnicities and income levels across the globe.”

The top of the laptop is bright red and bursting with peony flowers. The peony design is carried on inside the notebook, under the keypad. The notebook also has an embroidered storage sleeve that helps keep the exterior protected while being carried as a clutch.

Yeah that's right you read correctly...A FREAKIN' CLUTCH!!!!

The peony is a blend of Asian and Western cultures- antiquity and modern style, technology and fashion. It was inspired by Tam’s “China Chic” style.

“The peony is the national flower of China. They are beautiful and symbolize prosperity, good fortune and happiness,” said Tam. “Their many layers are similar to a modern woman who is as savvy in expressing herself with her personal style as she is with weaving technology into the fabric of her rich and multi-faceted life.”

She wanted to create something that would encourage the feeling of peace and tranquility you get from being in a garden. And hell after writing so many thesis papers a semester, one can use a little Zen every now and then. What better way then to just stare at your computer...haha.

Another cool think about this notebook...the "enter" key on also has the Chinese symbol for double happiness.

So as you deal with work/school/life in general, this notebook reminds you of what's beautiful and feminine in your life. The HP Vivienne Tam Special Edition notebook is now available online an starts at $699.99

And no Daddy did not like my little email...his Reply:: "LOL"
