Dress (tucked in as a shirt): 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target // skirt: Express // tights:Hue // boots: old
…so I felt compelled to take an outfit photo. It’s not even particularly interesting in my book but I received a ton of compliments today, so, win? Shout out to my work hubs for having a camera at his desk and snapping my pics (and confirming my case of Resting Bitch Face, see below for exhibit A).
jacket: Express; dress and bag: Zara; shoes: Bass Shoes; sunnies: ASOS; bangles: Kate Spade
the reverse/ mullet/ whatever you call this trend dress is something that I’ve fallen for quite hard. I love them all. I scooped this bad boy up a week before my birthday and never wore it on my birthday because of the sharp winds and overal winter grubiness. Now that it’s ahh-mazing in the city (feels like SPRING!) I plan on wearing it multiple times, hopefully sans tights next time.
sweater: Target; turtleneck: Zara (old); knit pants: Express; booties: Kardashian Kollection for Sears (gifted); bag: Rebecca Minkoff; bracelet: Versace x H&M; watch: Juicy Couture
1. neglecting to watch the weather report means I wore a turtleneck and big ass sweater in 70 degree weather. 2. men’s deodorant works 3. my bag is a recent conquest from the Rebecca Minkoff sample sale about a week ago. Isn’t she lovely? 4. I’ve grown a healthy obsession with Instagram now that I’m the owner of a lovely iPhone. fa-lo-me
Hope your week is off to a good start! Please don’t forget that you can still help the people of Haiti, donate to the Red Cross today. Thank you.
blazer: Express; turtleneck: Zara; trousers: Shipley & Halmos; ballet flats: Sam Edelman, watch: Juicy Couture; nail polish: Lancôme “Pop Petrol”; scarf: Vivienne Tam
Earlier this week I decided on a not so typical look for me. It was totally buttoned up and lack of color (with the exception of the scarf added in before I flew out of the house). I mean, I’m wearing trousers for Christ’s sake. However, I LOVED the final look since it’s so 90s! In all honesty, part of me felt like Samantha à la Sex and the City season one (which I can’t decide if that was a good or bad thing). Plus, I’m kind of lovin’ the pants/ trousers look nowadays
Here I am wearing shorts. In the fall. With stockings. Whenever I saw someone wearing tights with shorts, I’d roll my eyes and beg them (internally) to PICK ONE! You’re either cold, or you’re hot. Why, pray tell, are you wearing shorts when it’s not summer. Perhaps you wouldn’t have to wear stockings IF you wore something weather appropriate. Think about it.
And now I find myself one of those people. Because I’m stubborn, I refuse to apologize to those I’ve secretly judged but rather I’ll say that it’s okay to wear this kind of attire in the Fall. When it’s 90 degrees, however, I will judge you (and openly via Twitter). What led me to pair the two together I will never know but what I do know is that when I saw these shorts in Zara two weeks ago, I had to have them. As someone who stands at 5’10″ (I use every opportunity possible to remind the public of this fact), finding shorts that fit and don’t show off my cooter is kind of a BFD. Because I’m afraid of said cooter showing at any given moment, I used the stockings as a means to protect myself AND wear it to the office.
I’ll continue to make excuses to validate this shorts/stocking/autumn combo. While the internal struggle continues, peep these. Also, in the last photo, I’m well aware of the fact that it looks like I’m missing a tooth but it’s there. I promise.
