Designer collaborations with high street stores are all the rage. I won’t lie — I live by them. I’m one of the creeps who stay up ’till midnight stalking websites to see if the items are live (don’t underestimate the power of amazing concealer the following day!). Everyday I take the train where I’ve been blitzed with ads for the upcoming Doo.Ri for Impulse, and you know what — I’m excited (surprise).
Korean-American, Doo.Ri Chung, launched her line in 2001 and debuted her first runway show in 2003. By ’06, Chung won the coveted CFDA Swarovski Perry Ellis award for emerging talent in womenswear. Now she can count First Lady Michelle Obama as one of the women to wear her duds. Now she’s partnered with Macy’s Impulse brand (which credits Karl Lagerfeld and Giambattista Valli as past collaborations). Check out a quick behind-the-scenes video of the collection
Retail giant Target is partnering with Calypso St. Barth, the global luxury lifestyle brand known for upscale resort wear, to introduce an limited- edition, affordable collection consisting of fashion and home items. Full of vibrant colors and funky prints, Calypso St. Barth for Target brings a fun and relaxed approach for Summer 2011.
Launched on the island of St. Barth in 1992, Calypso St. Barth has grown from a modest resort-wear boutique to a luxury lifestyle brand with a global following.
Colorful silk tunics and dresses, linen caftans and cashmere sweaters have become staples of the brand’s casual, yet elegant aesthetic. Each boutique showcases the Calypso St. Barth collection along with carefully chosen pieces from international designers to create a line that is both timeless and modern. In 1995, a unique collection of candles and fragrances was introduced and has grown to include Gardenia, Mimosa, Thé, Tangerine, Vanille, Bellini and Herbe d’été.
Calypso St. Barth for Target gives you the chance to purchase destination-chic style at a super affordable price. I’m always a big fan of Target’s designer collaboration, so I can’t wait to pick up a few items!
The collection is available starting May 1 through June 11 at all Target stores and Target.com, with prices starting at $1.99 to $79.99. Select items, including dresses in petite and plus sizes, will be available at Target.com through Aug. 15.

As someone who can’t see purple from pink without my glasses, eye care is something I take very seriously. Part of the fun for me is trying on new frames and discovering the power that glasses have in transforming my look, all while improving my vision.
Some, however, aren’t as lucky as you and I. With this little known fact, The Limited has decided to take action. Yesterday the fashion retailer kicked off a three-week, in-store, eyewear collection drive to benefit OneSightâ, a family of charitable programs dedicated to improving vision for those in need through outreach, research and education.
“Many of our recipients– especially globally– have never before owned a pair of glasses, yet are legally blind when they come through our Clinics,” said OneSight Executive Director Greg Hare. “The glasses that The Limited stores are collecting for OneSight will change lives by enabling a grandmother to see the faces of her grandchildren, putting an adult back to work, and helping a child to see the blackboard and learn in school.”
Between September 9th and 21st, more than 220 Limited stores across the country will be accepting donated eyewear from customers as part of their “Focus on Success” campaign. All eyewear will be donated to OneSight for volunteers to clean, recycle and hand-deliver on one of the organization’s 20 Global Optical Clinics this year.
“We strongly believe that helping others is a sign of success,” said The Limited CEO Linda Heasley. “OneSight was the perfect partner as a successful organization dedicated to helping others in need worldwide.”
All customers who donate will receive a coupon for a discount on a future purchase at The Limited.
Check out www.thelimited.com for more info about The Limited eyewear collection drive. If you would like to learn more about OneSight or to make a monetary or eyewear donation to OneSight, visit www.onesight.org.
