black and white everything

StyleSquad_300x90

As a member of Glam’s Style Squad, I receive a package every few months sharing a few of the latest trends. For the latest installment, something jumped out at me - the plethora of black and white!

I hate going by “trends” but sometimes it’s pretty obvious what will end up in your closet. Just look at fashion week where designers like Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors sent the timeless color combo down the runway. Whether its graphic lines or my favorite (polka dots!!), I’m into it this season - shocking since my wardrobe consists of burn your retina pink and orange hues ;)

All of the items above are from Marshalls, who allows you to shop and look good without worrying about paying too much and hurting your wallet. Yeah girl - get on that.

PS: looking to resume proper outfit photos soon but I just started a new job (eek!) and my previous “photographer” consisted of my fellow (former - wah!!) coworker (hayyy Kelci!).

holidays - glam style squad style!

Sunday, November 25, 2012

It’s no secret that I work with Glam from time to time but when they reached out asking if I’d like to be part of their “Style Squad” I said yes simply because I love saying the words “Style” and “Squad”. Call me childish if you like, but it makes me think of a team of people working to make me look damn good. *snaps in a z formation*

First up, is werking it during the holidays. I received a package with a sampling of products (listed below and also all over my Instagram feed) designed to get me through the holidays and beyond if I say so myself. From on-the-go kits to stylish bracelets and bangles to the must-haves in beauty. The Isaac Mizrahi “Fabulous” is a delightful scent that’s light and refreshing but not too sweet.

Timberland Photo Shoot

Tuesday, October 9, 2012

If you follow me on Instagram (@misswhoeverur!) you would have noticed that I played model a month back and now it’s time for the big reveal!

timberland
blouse: missoni x target; jeans: hudson; boots: timberland
blazer: banana republic, blouse: joe fresh; jeans: hudson; boots: timberland

When the Glam team reached out asking if I’d like to be part of a Timberland project, my first response was “DUH!” I grew up wearing Timbs (as I so affectionately call ‘em) so it was a natural fit. Or was it? I was used to the construction boots but I know my style has evolved from back in the day. Plus if you know anything about me, you know I love to act like a model (even though I get truly nervous in front of the camera, LOL!)

When I arrived on set, I was THRILLED to see that the brand has a plethora of shoe options ranging from rain to rugged to boots with heels. I was whisked to hair and makeup, chatted with Danielle, and emerged Fall ready. The makeup look was very natural (bronzey eye shadow, a bit of flush on the cheeks, and no lip color).

My challenge was to style my everyday clothes with Timberland’s EARTHKEEPERS® Alpine Tall Waterproof Boot. The boots are made with premium waterproof leather and suede upper which makes it PERFECT for Autumns rainy days. The “Re-Fleece” Polartec® faux shearling lining and shearling footbed cover keeps toesies warm and comfy. It also features Vibram® EcoStep® non-marking rubber outsole, which is made with 30% recycled rubber, so it’s environmentally conscious and provides durability and traction. If you’re clumsy like I am — rejoice! No slipping for you.

The real party began when we went to shoot OUT IN THE WORLD (read: Battery Park in NYC). I used my years of watching America’s Next Top Model and werked for the camera. There are three rules in Eileen’s Modeling Handbook: Smize, Pose, Vogue. Ham it up for the camera, baby!

I had a blast with the team (ahem, dancing on set when no one was watching) and couldn’t stop staring at the boots worn by the Timberland brand team, which led me down a slippery slope of browsing online! Since it IS Fall and NYC has chilled a bit - okay, a lotta bit - I am looking for stylish but comfortable footwear, so Timberland is on my radar.

Totally diggin’ these two (Earthkeepers® Rudston Tall Convertible WP Boot and Earthkeepers® Rudston Mid Waterproof Boot)
et voila!

Nordstrom Rack Fall Challenge: Game Day Glam

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

A few weeks ago, I was posed with a shopping challenge and as any good woman I couldn’t turn it down. I was handed a $500 gift card to Nordstrom Rack and was told to get THREE full outfits, centered around completely different themes. The looks had to be head-to-toe (no cheating!) and on trend. War stripes were painted on and I went to business at the Nordstrom Rack in Union Square.

blouse: Democracy; Denim: Joe’s Jeans; Shoes: DVF - all via Nordstrom Rack!
I’m no stranger to Nordstrom Rack since I’ve practically made it home base since its initial opening. For Fall 2012, the store has some cute retro chic items and they’re dubbing it “The Return of Style.” The minute I walked in, I was greeted with feminine blouse, colored leather jackets (I saw a beautiful brown leather vest that was soft as it was beautiful), loads of novelty skinny denim and lady-like pumps. In other words, I was in heaven.

Look one for the challenge: How to Get Game Day Glam. Admittedly, I don’t get into sports until it’s wayyyy too cold for me to leave my house but when I’m into it, the focus is there. I usually go dressed down, but no one says you can’t add a hint of glam into your game day wears. How do I do it?

  1. Add some sparkle
  2. Focus on a color theme (I chose red, but pick the color for your favorite team)
  3. Jeans are your best friends, and
  4. Include the glam with your footwear. Let’s face it: you’re not the one playing so you don’t have to rock sneakers.

How did I do?! I like this look. It’s cute yet casual. I can see myself going to some sports bar and fitting in (right?). Check out nordstromrack.com to find your local Nordstrom Rack and discover on-trend brands at up to 70% off.

thrill of the chase…

Friday, August 31, 2012

If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s I love a good hunt. There’s something exciting about seeing an item you love and so desperately want that you’ll scour the ends of the earth to find it. Luckily, you don’t have to go far since eBay exists and saves you the hassle.

I first discovered eBay freshmen year of college when I learned you could find amazing deals on designer items (plus find discontinued beauty products) and bid. I’m super competitive (obviously) so the bidding war was my playground. It seems I’ve returned to my old stomping grounds as I’ve found myself locked and ready to go on the items below

I mean business

Since I’m planning for Fall, I’m looking for accessories that’ll work with the clothing I’ve accumulated over the last year (it seems I’ve forgotten my budget). The best part is finding mini aha moments where one minute before an item sells, SCORE! You’re the winner. BEST FEELING IN THE WORLD!You wouldn’t think people are willing to part with such amazing items, but hey one woman’s unwanted Alexander Wang Rocco is my potential Fall 2012 handbag.

What I’m looking to win (one of the above): Alexander McQueen Skull Scarf Black/Blue, Alexander Wang Marion Mini Flap Bag (really want this so I can pair it with some skinnies + relaxed tee + boots!), Alexander Wang Rocco Satchel Bag, and Alexander McQueen Skull Scarf Black (I always find multiples of the same item just in case!)

Tip for shopping on eBay: if you’re bidding on something, try and refrain from constantly bidding against another person. Rather, wait until the final minutes and slowly start to monitor. The Last minute of a sale, I like to up the amount going about $20 more than I really want to spend. This gives you a buffer of keeping the higher price while the other bidders try to catch up. Or you can Buy It Now (another aha moment where victory is yours).

From the new to the hard to find, when it’s on your mind, it’s on eBay.
