HELLO! IT’S ME! I was going to a little birthday celebration with my family, so I decided to film myself getting ready. This is NOT a tutorial, you’re just getting ready with me. I was really excited to use the Carli Bybel palette from BH Cosmetics after my initial review and swatches.
There are a few noticeable fails in this video, namely my eyeliner which was annoying me hardcore. Not sure if I’m a fan of the Maybelline liner. Are you? And yeah I cleaned up the mascara on my nose 😛
I LOVE January simply because of all of the new beauty releases hitting the shelves. Brands love to start the new year off with a bang so i’ve compiled a few products that have caught my eye. Here are 5 beauty launches I’m excited about in 2016.
NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint SPF 30, $44
Anytime NARS decides to release a new foundation, I simply can’t say no. They’re formulas are amazing and the coverage never disappoints. The new NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint SPF 30 is an oil-free formula that offers a soft-matte finish in 12 different shades. Their Velvet Illusion Complex technology creates a soft-focus effect while Transparent Blurring Powders instantly enhance the look of skin by helping to blur imperfections and even tone. Sign me up! Available January 15, 2016 at NARS Boutiques and narscosmetics.com Available February 1, 2016 at Sephora, department, and specialty stores.
tarteist™ matte lip paint, $25
So technically this is available now online so you can get the early bird special and run to purchase it. I first spotted these beauties on Snapchat back when tart took a group of beauty vloggers to Turks and Caicos (unfortunately my invite got lost i the mail :(…). I’ve been actively stalking them via instagram for their release and it’s finally here! This full coverage formula is applied using the tarteist™ paint brush wand with an ergonomically slanted, soft tip so anyone can easily paint on precise pigment. The pigmentation looks CRAZY and it dries down to an ultra matte finish. They’re available in 10 different shades ranging from a shocking pink to a beautiful neutral. Available now on Tarte’s site and Sephora.
Maybelline Brow Drama Pomade Crayon, $8.99
Depneding on where you live you just may be able to spot this display in your local drugstore now. I’ve ben getting into brows this year and I hate falling in love with an expensive brow products (it’s an expensive habit!). As one of my favorite drugstore beauty brands the release of Maybelline Brow Drama Pomade Crayon gets me super excited. The Brow Drama Pomade Crayon is a chubby brow pomade crayon that sculpts, shapes, and tames brows with a blendable creamy texture. Available in drugstores in January but I’ve also found it here.
Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray, $28
This one hits close to home because I’ve been working on behind the scenes on this launch (well, not product formulation….only online promotion). I’ve never used a texture spray because I’m black for obvious reasons but who’s to say that I wouldn’t be able to try them out. I do straighten my hair every once and a while but I HATE when my hair looks pin straight. Now that I have a bit of a bob situation, I’d love to recreate that cool, undone, sexy type of hair. The Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray is a dry argan-oil infused texture spray formulated with high-performance resins and zeolite to form a bond between hairs for a texturized hold with a dry, gritty finish. Available for preorder now on Moroccanoil.com
M∙A∙C Cosmetics Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour, $20
MORE LIQUID LIPSTICKS, PLEASE! So I love the Retro Matte lipsticks from M∙A∙C so this is an interesting release for me. With intense pigmentation and a flat, matte finish this liquid lipstick is available in 15 saturated shades. M∙A∙C Cosmetics Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour is available in-store January 7, 2016 in the permanent line.
If you follow enough LA based beauty vloggers then you would have surely seen that Tarte Cosmetics took a crew to Turks and Caicos for a weeklong extravaganza. All over social media, vloggers and Insta-influencers were posting about #trippinwithtarte all the while showcasing all of Tarte’s upcoming releases. When I saw the Tartelette in Bloom palette a.k.a the Tartelette 2 palette on LustreLux’s snapchat, I IMMEDIATELY knew it had to be mine.
While I liked the original Tartelette palette (review here) I find that I reach for it a lot less than most of my makeup palettes. I still like it, and my review still holds strong but when faced with choosing between a cool toned palette vs. a warmer tone I go warm. I don’t really do eye looks with pinks and purples outside of romantic looks (which, to be honest, are few and far between #singlegirlproblems) so the Tartelette palette was pushed aside and my Morphe 35O palette took residence.
In any case, the Tartelette 2 In Bloom Amazonian Clay Palette ($45) consists of 12 eyeshadows with a mix of mattes and shimmer shades. The original palette was all about the matte pinks, creams, and purples whereas Tartelette 2 has warmer, richer shades of creams and browns.
Watch to see my full review on this palette
The Tartelette 2 palette is a permanent part of the Tarte Cosmetics lineup so no need to rush to purchase but if you’re a fan of warmer, neutral makeup you might wanna grab this.
Ahh November is over!! While I usually hate when people proclaim “can you believe how fast the year had flown by”…
CAN YOU BELIEVE HOW FAST THE YEAR HAS FLOWN BY!?!?
November was a pretty good month for me. Makeup wise - I experimented a bit more than usual (baking, contouring, etc.) and bought a CRAP TON of new makeup, thanks to the Sephora VIB Rouge sale and Black Friday. I did film a haul video but the footage came out blurry so unfortunately no video. I also slacked hardcore on the YouTube front because I was pretty busy all month. This whole daylight savings/ it gets dark at 4pm is difficult. The plus side: I bought a new ring light so no more excuses 😉
In other news, I did film a new video. Here are my November beauty favorites. Subscribe for more beauty videos weekly.
We’re closing out another month but not without a bang! Ulta has been celebrating 21 Days of Beauty throughout the month of September and the steals keep getting better. Each day Ulta features a beauty product with a generous discount letting all of us pick up some new beauty goodness. I got a preview and since I’m looking to jazz up my fall makeup bag, I’m excited to share this with you. Here we go!
On September 24th, pick up Stila’s Convertible Color which will be $12 (regularly $25!). This cream formula can be used as a lipcolor AND blush making it the ultimate makeup bag must have. Double duty beauty is always a good thing. It has a sheer tint that adds a subtle glow to cheeks while adding soft hue to your pucker. Getting it 50% off is even better!
My top two picks are in the eye category since I’ve been on the hunt for some new mascara and a bangin’ liquid liner.
I’ve been hearing a lot about It Cosmetics so I’m excited for the Hello Lashes Clinically Proven 5-in-1 Mascara. On September 25th it’ll be $12 (normally $24). According to the brand this mascara is clinically shown to increase lash volume by 430% — dang! It utilizes proprietary technology to infuse a blend of lash-enhancing and conditioning ingredients including Peptides, Collagen, Proteins, Acai, Jojoba, Green Tea and Vitamins A, C, E, B5. So not only will it give you va-va volume but also condition lashes.
Lastly there’s the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Precision Longwear Liner which will be $10 on the 26th (it’s regularly $20). I’ve been looking for a new liquid liner so I’m pumped about this. The pointed tip lets you create a fine line or go bold if you want to.
