Last Friday, I was whisked off to Southampton for the day to celebrate the new collaboration between GLOSSYBOX and retailer C. Wonder. Being released just in time for summer, C. Wonder and GLOSSYBOX partnered to create an Independence Day-themed box of beauty products you’ll actually love.
The C. Wonder Stars & Stripes GLOSSYBOX will feature full and deluxe-sized versions of a few beauty must-haves and new to me items, including:
C. Wonder Mystery Gift Card! Each recipient will receive a gift card with a value between $5-$500 that can be redeemed at C. Wonder stores nationwide or at www.cwonder.com
The Stars & Stripes GLOSSYBOX will be available for $21 at select C. Wonder store locations starting the the first week of July including Southampton (New York), Nantucket (Massachusetts), Lenox Square (Atlanta, GA), King Street, Charleston (South Carolina), Tysons Corner Center (Virginia), and The Fashion Centre at Pentagon City (Washington, D. C.).
Disclosure: I attended a press trip and a sample of the GLOSSYBOX.
For the second month, I’ve received a Glossybox courtesy of the company and I must say I’m impressed with the products they dish out to subscribers every month! Here’s a peek at what I received:
Illamasqua Ltd lip and eye pencil: super creamy pencil that is said to work for eyes and lips but I got an orange color so there’s no way it’s going near my eyes haha. Easy to use (I like to dull down the point a bit so it’s less harsh) and really pigmented.
Perfumies solid perfume stick: a solid perfume stick that I initially thought was lip balm (oops!). It’s a light scent that’s great for travel.
Epionce Restorative Hand Cream: When I first applied this it felt a bit greasy but that didn’t last long. It absorbs quickly, isn’t heavily scented, and leaves you moisturized.
Skin & Co Roma Truffle Serum Hydro Toning Day Serum: I haven’t used this yet but I’m really excited since I love serums! Developed in Italy, this serum is rich in peptides and hyaluronic acid.
Arganics by NuMe Argan Oil: ARGAN OIL! You guys know I love argan oil after using Josie Maran’s line so I can’t wait to test this little guy out. Ideally for hair this penetrates damaged hair cuticles leaving hair healthy from the inside out. My hair has gotten pretty dry as the weather cools down and I’ve been afraid of putting product in now that it’s super short. I don’t want it sticking to my scalp! This is lightweight so I can’t wait to try.
Did you sign up for Glossybox? Do you like you box this month?
P.S. GlossyBox just launched a gifting option. Visit here to shop for friends & family!
During fashion week, Birchbox held a fun Sample Stop which was like a huge “candy shop” for beauty girls. There were treats and beauty samples for the taking.
ZOMG!! (courtesy photo)
This actually got me thinking about Birchbox itself. I’ve always known of the brand but have not signed up. I’ve heard Katia (one of the founders) speak at numerous panels about social media, beauty, start-up life but have not signed up. I read their amazing blog, follow them on Pinterest, maybe entered a Facebook contest and STILL have not signed up. Needless to say, at this point, I feel like a creepy stalker.
How does it work?
Birchbox delivers luxe beauty samples to your door each month, for a small monthly fee of $10. Each month, you’ll receive a selection of samples that their team has tried and samples can be from established brands to emerging. The women’s subscription includes everything from skincare to makeup, as well as fun non-beauty extras. The men’s subscription (recently launched) delivers grooming products in addition to lifestyle accessories (socks, tech accessories, etc.).
Competitors?
Birchbox - to my knowledge - was the first subscription based beauty company to hit the streets but nowadays I feel like I’m learning about a new company every week! The standout competition, in my opinion, would be the UK-based GlossyBox. GlossyBox has actually sent me two of their boxes gratis and I was intrigued. They also have a mix of high-end products, newer brands and luxury samples. The caveat? It’s $21 a month. Yikes!
my GlossyBox products!
Verdict?
I think it’s just the idea of me paying each month for samples that freaks me out. I mean, why not just go to Sephora and ask for a few, right? After receiving my GlossyBox and hearing my friend’s squeal over their Birchbox mailers, I get it! It’s fun! It’s a surprise! Someone else is doing the legwork of picking samples and all you have to do is relax. Plus, it’s a great way to be introduced to newer brands, or even brands that are big overseas and haven’t quite made it stateside. Will I sign up? Who knows…
What about you? Are you on Birchbox? Why (or why not)?!
