It’s been interesting seeing Joseph Altuzarra’s career grow over the past several years. Sophisticated and ladylike, his collections are always quite beautiful. This season, he took inspiration from his father’s hometown of Basque (northern Spain) and the collection was filled with leather, burlap cotton, and crinkled linen.
The beauty look, of course, had to complement the design so while the clothes were elegant and slightly undone, so was the hair. Led by Odile Gilbert, the inspiration was the natural, easy and unstructured hair of folk rock musicians.
Starting with damp hair, Odile combed through Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream through strands from root-to-tip. She then misted a few pumps of Moroccanoil Heat Styling Protection throughout the hair. This combo helped created a rough and natural texture. The hair was then rough dried, and she gently twisted random sections with fingers as she went along to enhance the natural-looking effect without building volume.

The hair was twisted back and away from the face and secured with low with a clear elastic, creating a “V” shape with the hair. The rest of the hair was left loose. To finish off the look, she applied Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray. For a natural and a bit undone look she framed the face by pulling wisps of hair along the hairline.

For nails Julie Kandalec for essie took inspiration from the mother of pearl and shell accents found throughout Altuzarra’s collection so she created a pearly negative space moon manicure.
She began by applying essie’s first base base coat to clean, filed nails. Then she applied one coat of like linen, avoiding the nail’s half moon shape at the cuticle and followed with one coat of au natural over the entire nail. She finished off with gel.setter top coat.
Disclosure: I work for Moroccanoil but they didn’t pay or ask me to post this. I just like the hair.
