fall 2015 wish list

It happens every year. August rolls around and instead of enjoying the dog days of summer, I’m plotting my autumn lewk. I love autumn even if it only lasts about three weeks in New York before the blistering cold sets in. It’s cool enough for booties and a light jacket but warm enough for iced coffee. Was that basic? YOLO.

The new arrivals online have caught my eye and so wish lists have been made, outfits are being pinned, and my debit card could be heard whimpering in wallet.

Alexander Wang Long Vest // Lavish Alice Sleeveless Trench Coat // Theory Bolton Tremayah Sleeveless Coat. A budget friendly option is this Banana Republic vest (it’s pink!) but get it quick since high street stores sell out fast.

3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Mini Satchel in Military // Mackage Rubie Crossbody // Alexander Wang Emile in Pebbled Black with Rose Gold. Are you surprised? You shouldn’t be - Phillip Lim and Alexander Wang are two of my favorite handbag lines. Sturdy, beautiful, and well-crafted.

Stuart Weitzman 5050 Stretch Suede Boots // Splendid Murietta Suede Booties // Splendid Magnolia Chelsea Booties (Fact. I bought these in the middle of writing this post)

NYFW Fall/Winter 2010: Backstage at Mackage

Fashion Week started off with a bang as I entered backstage and instantly fell in love with the hair and makeup backstage at Mackage. Tippi Shorter, Avon Global Stylist Advisor and stylist who has worked with some mega celebs such as Rihanna, Alicia Keys and Beyonce, told me that the inspiration was based on the “the walk of shame” with the hair loosely pulled back into a messy (but not sloppy) ponytail and a bit greased.

To prep the hair, Tippi used Avon’s Advanced Techniques Smoothing Serum ($5.00) to give it a shiny/oily appearance that remained polished. She finished the look with Advanced Techniques Hair Spray (also by Avon, $4.00). The makeup was simple yet beautiful with a dark black lid that looks like it had been glossed over.

A Pop Up That’s Got You Covered

Yesterday I ventured off to Soho to visit the Mackage pop up shop that has taken residence at 145 Spring Street for the winter months. Now Soho and I have a love/hate relationship but i wanted to see what all the hubbub was about this brand (pronounced “muh-kahge” not “mac-age” like I thought).

The founders of Mackage are originally from Montreal so they know a thing or two about cold weather, so it’s not surprising when I learned that the coats were unbelievably warm without losing its chic factor. the warmth of the coats is something that’s been echoed by many bloggers so my interest has been peaked and I’m saving for one myself. all of the coats, if not made in leather, have a subtle leather detailing- albeit a belt, elbow sleeve, or collar. It’s subtlety at its best. All of the coats, I learned, are cut slim (always a good thing) making them quite forgiving to any of the winter -er, mishaps- that seem to creep in.

Sidebar: there really is a problem with winter and keeping fit- check it out here on how to not give into old man winter.

One thing I’m pining for are the gloves. Oh the gloves! They’re long and fabulous but the one I covet the most are the BlackBerry/iPod friendly fingerless gloves. These super chic mitaine (Google it) are absolutely perf and do not leave off the impression that I’ve somehow failed first grade grammar whilst BBM-img or Tweeting :)

Be sure to check out Mackage for a coat that’ll last the decades and make everyone around you jaloux. I beg you, this winter…RESIST THE NORTH FACE!!

If you’re boycotting Soho this holiday season (I totes don’t blame you), there’s another Mackage pop up in the Meatpacking District as well.

Meatpacking District:

Your chance to score a coat just got even better. Mackage is hosting a sample sale in a couple of days.

Leave the debit card at home 😉

I love it when brands I love finally open up a store (temporary or not)…especially in this little ole’ town of mine known as New York City (do we remember the stalking of Kate Moss and the Topshop opening?? Yeah. I’m dedicated)

Needless to say when I found out about Mackage opening up it’s first retail location, a pop up store that will be located in Meatpacking District, I got a little bit excited.

Mackage Fall/ Winter Campaign as seen on stylecrave.com

Mackage is an outerwear brand known for impeccable tailoring with a sexy edge. The pop-up location will offer the entire range of what Mackage is known for- think wool coats, sleek trenches, unique puffys (LOVE!) and packables- all for the month of September.

Huzzah!
