Shopbop Handbag Sale!

When I received word that Shopbop was going to have a handbag sale, I instantly decided to peruse the shop to create a wish list. Then I realized it was a selection (so my Pashli Dreams Part Three will have to wait). shopbop 20 percent off handbagsThat said, I’m thinking ahead and planning my autumn lewk, part of which includes backpacks. I can’t remember the last time I wore a backpack in a serious fashion - outside of that time I went HIKING in an attempt to woo a guy. The relationship fizzled and so did the thought of me ever wearing a backpack again.

Not one to quit and the mere fact that you cannot walk into a store without seeing a fashionable backpack, I’ve added a few to my cart and want you to wear one with me.

Okay so the Lipault Paris 4-Wheeled 28″ Packing Case in Poppy isn’t a handbag but I literally just planned a girls trip for September and realized that I only have one 22” suitcase that doesn’t wheel. The wheeling part may seem like a minor detail but carrying a bag is out of the question for me. I’m lazy, sue me. Other non-backpack but still made this list include the DKNY Drawstring Bucket Bag (White) and Loeffler Randall Medium Rider Satchel (Electric Blue). I mean, look at them. You know you want it.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Ligero Backpack (Black) for those who want to look less schoolgirl and more “I hang out downtown but really live uptown.” I have a love-hate relationship with Rebecca Minkoff primarily because I think her prices had gotten way out of hand in recent years. That said, I’m no hater and this Rebecca Minkoff MAB Backpack looks pretty damn good. Lastly this Elizabeth and James Cynnie Sling Bag (Canopy Green) is what dreams are made of and Herschel Supply Co.’s Heritage Mid Volume Backpack is quite affordable.

The handbag sale starts August 18th (7AM U.S. Eastern Time) and lasts until August 20th (4AM U.S. Eastern Time). It’s a blink and it’s gone before you know it kinda sale so be quick. Enter code: INTHEBAG at checkout for 20% off.

Enjoy!

First Impression: Maybelline Better Skin Foundation

maybelline better skin foundation dark skinI’m back with ANOTHER first impression video. This time I tested the new Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation in Coconut. I mentioned it has Vitamin C but it actually has Actyl-C, a more durable form of Vitamin C. Wanted to show what the Maybelline Better Skin Foundation would look like on dark skin (for reference, I have oily skin). Sorry but my camera wasn’t focusing on me towards the end so it looks a bit blurry. Damn VS Pink dogs 😉 Watch for the full review.

You can purchase the SuperStay Better Skin Foundation at ULTA and drugstores now. Subscribe for more beauty videos weekly.

fall 2015 wish list

It happens every year. August rolls around and instead of enjoying the dog days of summer, I’m plotting my autumn lewk. I love autumn even if it only lasts about three weeks in New York before the blistering cold sets in. It’s cool enough for booties and a light jacket but warm enough for iced coffee. Was that basic? YOLO.

The new arrivals online have caught my eye and so wish lists have been made, outfits are being pinned, and my debit card could be heard whimpering in wallet.

Alexander Wang Long Vest // Lavish Alice Sleeveless Trench Coat // Theory Bolton Tremayah Sleeveless Coat. A budget friendly option is this Banana Republic vest (it’s pink!) but get it quick since high street stores sell out fast.

3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Mini Satchel in Military // Mackage Rubie Crossbody // Alexander Wang Emile in Pebbled Black with Rose Gold. Are you surprised? You shouldn’t be - Phillip Lim and Alexander Wang are two of my favorite handbag lines. Sturdy, beautiful, and well-crafted.

Stuart Weitzman 5050 Stretch Suede Boots // Splendid Murietta Suede Booties // Splendid Magnolia Chelsea Booties (Fact. I bought these in the middle of writing this post)

summer 2015 skincare routine

I often get compliments about my skin (thank you, thank you, far too kind) and when asked about my skincare routine, I’m not afraid to spill on what products I use. I love skincare and I blame one of my earliest work experiences at Lancôme. It was around the launch of Génifique and my former boss took me through the process of making a splash around a new product. I learned all about the tedious press release writing process but the most fascinating bit was hearing from R&D learning about the product, the benefits, the ingredients, etc. Yes my mother, the OG Beauty Guru, always stressed important grooming habits but it wasn’t until that time where I was fascinated by the science behind skincare.

Fast forward several years and I’m still enamored with the world of skincare. Instead of writing press releases, I do my own research and use my face as a petri dish (just kidding). I am, however, always looking up ingredients, what would and wouldn’t work on my skin type and tone and trying to move forward. So it should be no surprise that my skincare routine includes more than just a cleanser. I’ve documented my morning summer skincare routine, because I use different products seasonally and during the evening.

This doesn’t even count when I’m trying to pamper myself. I’ll save that for another video 😉

new in: hourglass cosmetics arch brow sculpting pencil

When it comes to brows, I feel like it’s a constant struggle. I used to have amazingly bold brows and then high school happened in the early aughts where thin was in. I foolishly waxed my brows, now they’re boycotting and refusing to grow back to their glorious pre-2004 era. I’ve tried gels, pots, waxes, pomades and found the whole thing confusing. While I do love me some Dipbrow, it’s easy to veer off into Groucho Marx territory.

When I met with the Hourglass’ Director of Artistry Joel Canales, I practically launched into a word vomit about my brows. Being the kind, gentle soul that he was, he calmed me down and fixed me up. It was almost a religious experience. The brand has extended their best-selling Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil Collection with SIX new shades (for a total of nine total shades for brows). My shade is Dark Brunette, a deep brown with warm undertones that matches my dark hair perfectly.

The Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil formula combines powder, pencil and wax to create the look of naturally fuller, defined brows in one easy step. It has a triangular shape— instead of a sharp pointy tip— that allows you to sculpt with broad strokes (think like a check mark) using the flat edge of the pencil, as well as fill in with fine lines using the tip. The other end of the pencil has a brush to groom brows into place. The brush is actually soft and not scratchy which is my favorite part (aside from having to carry a brow product AND brush). In a nutshell- get this. The brand promises that it won’t budge so no need to worry about smudging your brows on a date like I may or may not have done recently.

I believe this is what the kids call “eyebrows on fleek”

The Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil is available now on Hourglasscosmetics.com, Sephora, and more.
